John "Piques" Matos passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife Adriana L Matos and their son John L Matos.
Mr. Matos was born in Agua de Pau, Sao Miguel, Azores. He was the son of the late Antonio Matos and Maria Matos (Piques). He and his family has lived in Mattapoisett for over 40 years.
He was an extremely hard worker & had worked several jobs throughout the years. As a machine operator at New England Rope & Lambeth Rope, painting many homes & businesses in Cape Cod, worked as a deckhand on a couple of local lobster boats "Thank you Sam & Dave for the many laughs & stories with him fishing throughout the years".
