John Moniz

John Moniz, 88, of Daytona Beach, Florida passed away December 10, 2025. He was the husband of Joanne (Presby) Moniz; they had been married for 65 years.

John was formerly employed by Berkshire-Hathaway and later at A. Walecka and Son Moving Company until his retirement.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

John enjoyed taking many cruises out of the ports in Florida and puttering around his house. He absolutely loved his animals.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; his children, Mark Moniz, Paul Moniz, Susan Moniz, and Lynn Rezendes; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Olga (Brazil) Moniz, and his siblings, William Moniz and Evelyn Perry.

A private funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
