John Thomas Perry, Jr., 85, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026.
Born in Fall River, son of the late John T. Perry, Sr., and Emily (Costa) Perry, he was raised in Fall River before living most of his life in the Southcoast area including Middleborough, Raynham, Westport, and Dartmouth.
John enjoyed birding, archery, fishing, and being outdoors. He loved taking drives to the beach where he would relax and read a book. Cars were always an important part of John's life especially the years he spent racing at Seekonk Speedway. Some of his favorite times were spent with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed volunteering at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Attleboro.
John was an accomplished private investigator in the Fall River area. His career included many high profile cases and television appearances. He was a hard worker, a trait learned early while working in the family flower shop in Fall River. Perry and Sons florist was where John also found his love of gardening.
John served proudly in the U.S. Airforce and was discharged honorably as an A3c.
Survivors include his son, John T. Perry, III, and his wife Cheryl M. Perry of Stoughton; his step-son David Almeida and his partner Lynn Correira of Fall River; his brothers, James Perry and William Almeida; a sister Lillian Serpa; and his grandchildren, Cara W. Perry and John T. Perry, IV.
His visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 29, 2026 from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dywer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Inurnment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
