Jon David Cope, 34, of New Bedford died unexpectedly on Saturday September 20, 2003. He was the son of Charles R. Cope of Columbia, South Carolina and the late Judith (Nelson) Foster.

Mr. Cope was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

He was employed as a commercial fisherman on several vessels in the New Bedford fleet.

Survivors include his father; 2 daughters, Courtney of New Bedford, and Kelsey of Swansea; a sister, Cathy Furtado of Fairhaven; 3 brothers, Bill Cope and Rick Cope, both of New Bedford, and Ken Cope of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and a great-nephew.

His Memorial Service will be held on Thursday September 25, 2003 at 4 PM in the Seamen's Bethel, 15 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted.
