J. Brian Soares, 65, of New Bedford died September 24, 2026 at home after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Jose M. and Maria M. (Mitte) Soares, he lived in new Bedford all of his life.
Brian was formerly employed by Morse Twist Drill and later worked in construction and at the local fish houses.
He enjoyed music and was an avid Boston Celtics and New England Patriots fan.
Survivors include his companion, Sonji Brim of New Bedford; a son, Tyris Soares-Mobiley and his companion Lilly of Taunton; a daughter, Crystal Lister and her husband Jeffrey of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Matthew J. Soares and his wife Phyllis and Donald S. Soares, both of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Carol A. Oliveira and her fiancé David Cardoza and Julia M. Banks, New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Carter and Pierce; his close friend and care giver Peaches Brim; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be private.
