Jose E. "Kiké" Gonzalez, 76, of New Bedford died February 26, 2013 peacefully at Sacred Heart Home.
He was the husband of Barbara A. (Amaral) Gonzalez.
Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Bernardo and Francisca (Gerna) Gonzalez, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Gonzalez was formerly employed by the Solid Waste Department with the City of New Bedford for 30 years until his retirement.
He was an avid boxing fan and was a Golden Gloves boxer in his youth.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jose Gonzalez, Jr. of New Bedford; a daughter, Karyn Gonzalez of Pawtucket, RI; 2 sisters, Juanita Jorge and Genoveva Broyles, both of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren, Randi, Kyle, Jordan, Ryan, Marques and Shalia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Paul Gonzalez.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 28th at 12 Noon in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His family will receive guests on Thursday morning from 10 AM - 12 Noon prior to his service. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
