Joseph Duprey, 89, of Acushnet, formerly of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday June 21, 2025, at Saint Luke's Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Gaudette) Duprey; they had been married for 62 years.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Joseph "Slip" Duprey and Marion (Foley) Duprey. He attended Holy Name Grammar School, Holy Family High School, and Campbell Business School.
Joe was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Private First Class during the Korean War. Following his military service, he was employed by Hendrie's Ice Cream Inc. of Dartmouth until his retirement, and later managed the Blue Lantern Café in Acushnet.
A devoted sports enthusiast, he was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and Boston Celtics.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine; two sons, Paul Duprey and his wife Melissa of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Marc Duprey and his wife Stephanie of Acushnet. He also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, Madison of Panama City Beach and Bryce and Riley of Acushnet.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and calling hours are respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford Monday June 30th at 10 AM. His family will receive visitors at the church prior to the Mass from 9:30-10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
