Joseph A. Ligotti, 81, of Dartmouth died Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at home after a brief period of declining health. He was the husband of Marie E. (Geraneo) Ligotti.

Born in Boston, son of the late Giuseppe and Roberta (Champloux) Ligotti, he lived in Boston and Hingham for many years before moving to Dartmouth.

Mr. Ligotti honorably served with the Seabees in the United States Navy.

He was formerly employed as a Clerk with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and then as the Clerk Magistrate at Hingham District Court, where he worked until his retirement.

Joseph enjoyed a nice meal, a good cigar, a nap, and letting you know what you did wrong.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; four children, Jesse Bent and his wife Doreen, Joseph A. Ligotti, Jr. and his wife Paula, Renée E. Ligotti, and Angelo J. Ligotti and his wife Lucia; his brother, John Ligotti and his wife Sandra; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Jaime, Francesca, Santino, Bianca, Dominic, and Gabriela; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Jackie Lee.
