Joseph R. Rose, 80, of Mattapoisett died August 24, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital.

He was the husband of Leneta J. (Sewall) Rose.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph S. and Gertrude W. (Simmons) Rose, he lived in Mattapoisett most of his life.

Mr. Rose was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.

He was formerly employed by Stop & Shop in Fairhaven.

Mr. Rose served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a member of the Florence Eastman American Legion Post 280.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph R. Rose, Jr. of New Bedford; a daughter, Debra J. Ziroli and her husband Frank of Norwich, CT; a sister, Blanche Preston of Fairhaven; a sister-in-law, Theresa Rose of Lewiston, ME; his good friend, Tom Parker of Rochester; several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Roland Rose and Anita Faraglia.

Visiting hours Thursday, August 26th from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. His Funeral Service and burial on Friday will be private.
