Joseph M. Sawicki, 71, of New Bedford died June 23, 2014 at Adams House after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the husband of the late Jeanne L. (Lindsey) Sawicki.
Born in Taunton, the son of Helen (Burley) Sawicki and the late Joseph Sawicki, he lived in Carver before moving to New Bedford 15 years ago.
Mr. Sawicki was a carpenter.
He had a passion for antique cars, hot rodding and car racing.
Mr. Sawicki served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his mother; 2 daughters, Regina Sawicki of Port Orange, FL and Jessica Sawicki of New Jersey; 2 sons, Joseph Lindsey of Hingham, MA and Christopher Sawicki of Malden, MA; a sister, Paula Johnson of Lakeville, MA; 2 grandsons, Dylan and Joe; his beloved friend, Pamela Rainey of Newport, RI; and 2 nephews.

His Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 25th at 1 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
