Joyce M. (Burgo) Cruz, 75, of New Bedford died September 12, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of John N. Cruz.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Caesar and Beatrice (Barros) Burgo, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was formerly employed as a registered nurse and St, Luke's Hospital for over 40 years until her retirement.
Joyce was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband John; 2 sons, Shawn Burgo and his wife Meghan of Lynn and Nicholas Cruz of New Bedford; a sister, Barbara Perreira of New Bedford; and 2 grandchildren, Trevor Burgo and Jonah Burgo.
She was the sister of the late Jeanne Barrows.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 19th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, September 18th from 4-7 PM.
