June E. (Ferreira) Monteiro, 75, of Dartmouth, passed away on August 3rd, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.

June was born in New Bedford to Americo "Mac" and Maria Clara Ferreira on June 9th, 1949. While working at Big G supermarket, June met Robert Monteiro. They married in 1971 and went on to have two beloved children, Rebecca and Ryan.

While raising two young children, June enjoyed a rewarding career in special education, eventually transitioning into physical therapy. She spoke fondly of her students and patients, sharing stories and laughs about those she influenced and assisted in her years of dedicated service.

After retirement, June spent time exploring the U.S. and Europe, avidly watching Downton Abbey, playing weekly Mahjong competitions with her ladies, grooving to her Motown favorites, and enjoying endless cups of Yorkshire Gold.

June was predeceased by her mother and father, Clara and Americo. She is survived by her husband Robert, her children Rebecca and Ryan, her sister Jane, her brother-in-law Henry, her two daughters-in-law Tracy and Meghan, her nephew Matthew and his wife Devoney, her niece Katelyn and her husband John, and her grand-nephew Lincoln. Her granddaughter's birth is anticipated in January.

Her visitation will be held at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford on Sunday, August 11th, from 1 to 4 p.m., with a service of remembrance at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
