Justin John Cournoyer, 26, of New Bedford passed away on September 6, 2025 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness.

He was born in New Bedford to Sheri Millette and Justin Cournoyer. He is survived by his sisters, Chrysten Mourao, Kellie Mourao, and Courtney Cournoyer; his grandparents who loved him dearly, Karen and John Millette; many beautiful nieces and nephews; and many friends. He is also survived by his life partner of 10 years, Katrena Theodore, and their three cats, Liam, Lily, and Lasagna.

Justin was a man who loved nothing more than to work with his hands. He worked in many labor fields and became an expert of insulation, forklift maneuvers, and fireplace installations. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and cooking. He loved watching movies, video games, cartoons, and music. He loved creative outlets and had such a diverse taste that he could enjoy so many genres as long as they felt right. He loved to talk about outer space and the science behind it all and could go on about it for hours.

He had a tight group of friends who he carried with him until the end of his time and will continue to walk with them on their adventures.

Justin was the type of person to give the shirt off his back and his last dollar to anyone that needed it and truly saw the best in everyone.

We ask to look for him in Chicken Mozambique (his go to meal for loved ones), the stars, wild music playlists, and most importantly of all, humor.

He is now in the arms of his late grandmother MaryJane Cournoyer, as well as some very important loved ones who will keep him safe for us.

His visitation will be held on Friday September 19th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by a service of remembrance at 7 PM.
