Kay Anne Keith Broholm, beloved mother to Anne Kristina Broholm and Jon David Broholm, passed away on May 24th at 11:40 am at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was 88. Born in 1936 in LaSalle County Illinois to George E. Keith and Bernice Nicholson Keith, Kay lived a full and healthy life.

Kay was a devoted mother and spouse to her late husband of 50 years Dr. Russell Broholm (1931 - 2014). Known for her selfless personality and sometimes unintentional humor, she will be missed by all who knew her. After an initial career as a teacher followed by working with her husband Russell in his medical practice, Kay went on to become a medical records coder where she worked at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado until her retirement in 2011. In 2010, at age 74, Kay enthusiastically and fearlessly embraced a new hobby of whitewater rafting and went on to raft multiple rivers over the next 12 years of her life, taking her last river trip in 2022 at age 86.

She is survived by her daughter Anne and her son Jon. Her brother Jon preceded her in death.

In accordance with her wishes, a private family ceremony celebrating Kay's life will be held on the Animas River in Durango, Colorado later this year.
