Kimberly D. (Baptiste) Coates, 59, of New Bedford passed away peacefully on Sunday November 3, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Hyannis, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life and was a graduate of New Bedford High School.

Kimberly was formerly employed as a home healthcare worker until her illness. She poured her heart into caring for other people.

Kimberly was devoted to her family; always hosting family gatherings at her house. In her spare time, she loved to dance, travel and listen to her slow jams with her favorite song being "Wifey by Next". She was always down for Cape Verdean festival. Kimberly enjoyed cooking, including her famous "Thanksgiving Soup". Whenever Kimberly was in a room, the room was always full of laughter and smiles because of her presence.

She is survived by her siblings, Alex Barros and his wife Wendy, Ricardo J. Barros, and Karen L. Rogers and her husband Kelvin Barry Rogers; her nieces and nephews, Dagny Ashley, Francine Baptiste, Robert Hull, Jr., Micole Baptiste, Wanda Baptiste, Amy L. Baptiste Gracia, Darnell Baptiste, Kelvin Rogers, Jr., Deanna Rogers Johnson, Brandie Barros, Cassandra Soares Gomes, Wayne Soares, Nateasha Barros Vincent, Jamye Barros, Alexander Barros II, Jasmine Barros-Thomas, Kendal LeBlanc, Isaiah Barros, Sydni Armstrong, and Deajanni Baptiste; and lots of great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Eva L. (Abreu) Baptiste, her father, Richard J. Barros, and her siblings, Frank J. Baptiste, Robert W. Baptiste, Michael L. Baptiste, Richard V. Baptiste, and Jeffrey Baptiste.

Her funeral will be held on Friday November 8th at 10 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her funeral service at New Life South Coast, 1331 Cove Road, New Bedford at 11 AM.  Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be on Thursday November 7th from 4-8 PM.  For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
