Kris Kenneth Stone Smith, 59, of Marion passed away at home on September 9, 2026 after a brief illness.
Kris was the eldest son of Chester S. Smith II and Donna Marie (Stone) Smith. He is survived by his family, including his parents; Michelle Ouellette-Smith and her mother, Brenda Criger; his children, Cassandra Ouellette, Adam Ouellette, and Jax Fonseca; his siblings, Scott Smith and his wife Simone Aguilera, Heather Bradley and her husband Garrett Bradley, Linda Rosenbusch and her husband Robert Rosenbusch, and Charles Stone; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Kris grew up and lived most of his life in Marion, MA. Kris was a proud Life Member of the Descendants of Whaling Masters in New Bedford, MA.
Kris believed life is a journey and not a destination. He believed in continuous education and earned a BS in Management from UMASS Dartmouth, an MBA in Management from Chaminade University of Honolulu, an MA in Criminal Justice from Curry College, and a JD in Law from Massachusetts School of Law. He was a certified personal protection specialist and Nine Lives member of the Executive Protection Institute.
After the events of 9/11/2001, Kris left his management job in the private sector to enter law enforcement where he worked for twenty years. After retiring from law enforcement, he began a sales and marketing career in the private sector where he remained until his passing.
Kris enjoyed spending time with family over a glass of wine and great food. He especially enjoyed cooking his famous lobster/clam boil for family. Kris also enjoyed traveling with family to Hawaii, Disney World, Florida, Myrtle Beach, Williamsburg, New York City, Provincetown, and Texas numerous times over the years.
A private service will be held for invited friends and family at St. Gabriel's Church in Marion. His ashes will be laid to rest with family at the St. Gabriel's Courtyard in Marion and interred in the Byodo-IN Temple at the Valley of the Temples on Oahu, HI. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation Kris supported for many years.
