Lance Gunberg, 66, of New Bedford died March 21, 2024 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Ilda M. (Pacheco) Gunberg.

Born in Southington, CT, son of the late George and Lucy (Arruda) Gunberg, he was raised in Connecticut and lived in New Bedford most of his life.

Lance was a dedicated employee at Thomsen Food Service, finding fulfillment in his work each day. His passion for music, game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, as well as his love for animals and children, radiated through his interactions with those around him. Lance devoted his time to volunteering at the Fairhaven Animal Shelter, making a positive impact on the lives of many furry friends.

Lance thrived in the arts and was an avid artist. He led several projects over the years including film work and graphic design for the local communities in New Bedford. He was a talented percussionist, and supported local bands with his enthusiastic rhythm and love of music.

He also volunteered for Junior Achievements and was an advocate/ mentor for adolescents in the community. He will be greatly missed by all.

In his free time, Lance enjoyed cruising with his loving wife Ilda, creating lasting memories together. His kind and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survivors include his wife; a sister, Martha Cote and her husband Paul of New Bedford; his sister-in-law, Maria Silva and her husband Roy of New Bedford; his dear friends, Orlando Ramos and his wife Julia of New Bedford; 4 nephews Paul George, Hans Cote, Michael Silva and Scott Silva; and many friends.

He was the brother of the late Richard Gunberg and Greg Gunberg and uncle of the late Heidi Gunberg.

His visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 29th  from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
