Leonard J. Cunha, 69, of New Bedford died Sunday January 2, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Balestracci) Cunha.

Born in New Bedford, the son of Christina (Freitas) Cunha of Hawaii and the late John Cunha, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Mr. Cunha was formerly employed as a truck driver for Reinhart Food Services and NWD Trucking Company for many years.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Whaling City Country Club.

Survivors include his wife and mother; a son, Stephen Cunha and his wife Karen of New Bedford; and a brother, Paul Cunha and his wife Dolores of Hawaii.
