Liam A. Osorio Ordonez

Liam Alexander Osorio Ordonez, 8, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. He was the son of Gabriela "Gabby" Ordonez and Juan Alberto Osorio. Liam passed surrounded by his parents, and his big sister, Vanessa Osorio Ordonez, who was his protector and defender.

Liam was nothing short of extraordinary. He lit up every single room he walked in with a smile that took up his whole face. He loved dinosaurs, the movie How to Train Your Dragon, Super Mario, and building Lego sets. He enjoyed any outdoor activity, and his absolute favorite was swimming in all types of bodies of water. He loved swimming in the waves at Horseneck Beach and running around in the Splash Pad at the Cape Cod Canal Playground. He loved riding around on his scooter and long car rides.

Liam touched the heart of everyone who had even one single interaction with him. He had a big heart and cared for others the way they cared for him. He was a huge empath and when he saw someone hurt or sad, he was so quick to do anything he could to bring comfort. One of his favorite methods of comforting others was singing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and during his last moments, he asked his mother and sister to sing him that very song. He was the goofiest little boy ever and he loved making people laugh. He loved watching YouTube kids shorts, and whenever he found one that was really funny, he loved sharing it with whoever was around him.

Liam spent his early years with many family members on the weekends while his parents worked so hard to give him the beautiful life he had. Whether it was aunts, uncles or cousins, the extended family were all able to share beautiful memories with Liam. Everyone has at least one funny, happy moment with Liam. He was the best companion to have and was always willing to go on any adventure whether it was a run to the grocery store or even a doctor's visit that wasn't his own. He was the king of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) and loved being included in everything.

His mother, Gabby, shared that whenever she just so much as gotten out of bed and put on a pair of shoes, without even knowing where she was going, Liam was already throwing his shoes on ready to go wherever his mom went. She shared that Liam was her partner in crime and he stuck to her like two peas in a pod. The two experienced a lot of firsts together and visited new cities and parks together. Liam's love languages were quality time and physical touch. He was always attached whether it was laying right on top of his mom in bed or little things like playing with her ears. All Liam ever knew was love from his mother.

His father, Juan Alberto, shared that Liam was his absolute best friend. Liam was a mini version of him and they loved going on adventures together. Juan Alberto loved taking him to the movies where Liam's favorite snack was popcorn and his go-to drink was a crisp cold Coca-Cola. His dad expressed that he loved taking Liam to the park where he has the freedom to run as much as he wanted to, and after a long visit at the park, Dad took him to get his favorite meal, which was a Happy Meal from McDonalds. Liam found so much comfort in his father's presence and knew that as long as he was around, he was safe and sound. Liam's dad was his protector and never missed a single event involving him. No matter the circumstance, Dad was always in the crowd cheering him on.

Another one of his biggest cheerleaders was his big sister, Vanessa. While they attended the same elementary school, Vanessa would hold his hand coming in and out of the school and loved showing off her baby brother. She played the big sister role perfectly as she protected him and defended him if he was in trouble. She loved her baby brother so much and loved seeing him laugh. She would do anything in her power to see him smile if he was upset or hurt. Vanessa shared all of his life with him and along with Liam, they lived right under Mom and Dad's wings. Vanessa was a very understanding sibling when it came to the extra care Liam may have needed as he was younger than her and showed just as much care for him.

Another one of Liam's absolute favorite things to do was sleepover over his grandmother's, Micaela (Wela), house. With Wela, lived his aunties (Gabby's two younger sisters), Haylee and Yazmin. Here he loved playing with his stash of dino toys and Legos that had been saved over the years. His Wela always made sure to embrace him with so much love and make him feel special. Liam was obsessed with his Wela and slept right on top of her ribs in her bed whenever he spent the night. Micaela referred to him as "My Boy" as he was the only grandson, and after three daughters, she finally got her baby boy. Liam had his own clothes drawer in her room where the clothes rotated throughout the years as he grew. Liam was Wela's weakness and she absolutely loved spoiling her boy.

Liam had that effect on not only Wela, but his two aunties, Haylee and Yazmin. Although Liam never got used to calling them Auntie, he knew exactly what they were to him and how much he meant to them. Haylee is an educator and started her career working in the same elementary school Liam attended, Sgt. William H. Carney Academy. Liam would get so excited whenever he passed his Auntie Haylee in the halls would almost get out of his own classroom line to be with Haylee. On her off days, Haylee would often pick him up from his babysitter and bring Liam to Wela's. At her house, Haylee would often have a couple hours one on one with Liam where she would help him with reading, writing, math, and more ways of enhancing his intelligence. Haylee calls Liam her motivation for her career path and found purpose in this field because of him.

Someone else who could say Liam gave her purpose was his other auntie, Yazmin. If there was one special boy who Yazmin had a soft spot for, it was her dear nephew Liam. Yazmin loved making Liam laugh with her silly faces and funny catch phrases. Liam came into her life when she was having a hard time understanding that her own life was meaningful. Once Liam was born, he made her realize that there was so much left for her to experience and one of them being the love she was able to share with her beloved nephew. Liam was the light of her life, and quality time was a big part of their bond. One of Yazmin's favorite memories was one May afternoon last year, she took Liam to a playground where there was huge web-like jungle gym, and Liam was climbing that part like no tomorrow so fast. He yelled "Come on Chachi!" (which is what he called her). Yazmin tried to go as fast as Liam but was too scared. To tease her, Liam began laughing and saying "Look at me Chachi! I can do it faster than you!" This will forever put a smile on Yazmin's face along with the times Liam was halfway through a Lego set and would ask her to finish it for him. Yazmin will always remember Liam as her new found purpose and reason to keep going.

Liam is survived by so many other family members who each shared beautiful moments with him. His Grandfather on his father's side often comes to visit and loved seeing his dear grandson. His uncles (brothers of Juan Alberto) would always step in when it came down to a birthday party or special event for Liam. In many ways, Liam was adored by everyone. He has so many older cousins who have each had a fair share of unforgettable memories with Liam. To the cousins and family he was referred to as "El Rey" which translates to "The King". He most definitely lived up to that name judging by the amount of love and affection he received.

Liam made a huge impact in his short-lived years with everyone. He is survived by so many family members and friends who cared for him deeply. He was the true definition of a ray of sunshine. He was so full of love and energy. Liam never complained of anything and was the strongest little boy. Even in his last moments he gave all his strength, which is something anyone can admire. We are more than blessed to have spent these years with Liam and are forever grateful for his life. We trust that he is now resting and is eternally happy. We are thankful to have gotten to feel the love he had to give and show it back. Liam was a well loved boy and he will forever be remembered as a star. May he Rest in Eternal Peace. We love you forever Liam boy. Watch over us.

Visiting hours for Liam will be held Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 2-6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday from 3-4:30 PM, during the visitation period. His Funeral will be held Monday, July 27, 2026 starting at the funeral home at 9 AM, with a brief prayer service being held at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
