Linda Mabelle (Purslow) Cyr, 84, of Rochester passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Sippican Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
Born on January 21, 1941, in Milton, Massachusetts, Linda grew up with a vibrant spirit that would define her life. She graduated from Quincy High School and went on to lead a multifaceted career that reflected both her intellect and creativity. Linda worked as a secretary at the Massachusetts State House and later at Fidelity Investments. Her passion for the arts also led her to become a ballet and choreography instructor. She was a proud member of the New England Civic Ballet, the predecessor to the Boston Ballet, where she shared her love of dance with grace and dedication.
Linda's life was rich with adventure and joy. She had an enduring love for sailing and spent many cherished hours on the water as a member of the Newport Yacht Club. Her zest for life extended to RV travel across the country, hiking scenic trails, riding her bicycle through quiet neighborhoods, and savoring a glass of wine in good company. A true connoisseur of beauty, she enjoyed collecting artwork and rugs that reflected her eclectic taste. Bird watching and gardening brought her peace and connection to nature.
An avid reader with a sharp mind, Linda also delighted in playing word games with her companions at The Pines at Hathaway Pond as well as watching the Red Sox and Patriots. Her spirited personality made her a beloved presence wherever she went-fun-loving, active, and always ready to share laughter.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Cyr; her daughter, Denise Lynn Silvia; her brothers, Gordon and Douglas; her sisters, Dorothy "Dottie", Valerie, and Shirley. She is survived by her son, Richard "Jake" Cyr and his fiancé Mary Hill; her grandchildren, Emily, Abbie and Luke Cyr; her son-in-law, Manny Silvia; and her grand-dog, Ruby.
Her memory will live on in those who knew and loved her-for the joy she brought into their lives and the energy with which she embraced each day.
Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sippican Rehabilitation Center and South coast health hospice group. Their dedicated care and compassion helped Jake and Linda through her final days.
May her memory bring comfort to all who were touched by her vibrant spirit.
