Linda J. Klappholz

Linda Jane (Krull) Klappholz of Mattapoisett passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2026 at the age of 87. She was the devoted, loving wife of Bruce Klappholz sharing 56 years of wonderful memories.

Born March 19, 1939 in Oceanside NY to the late Charles M. and Rosemary (Jackson) Krull, she grew up in East Rockaway NY. At East Rockaway High School she excelled as a three sport athlete accomplishing Honor student standing and was the President of the Student council. She went on to carry the same qualities forward to Green Mountain College earning her Associates degree in 1959.

She began working in the Insurance industry on Long Island. Later, having raised their family in Meriden, CT, they relocated to Mattapoisett in 1983 where Linda eventually worked for many years at a local popular gift store.

Her kitchen talents came naturally and enthusiastically. Devoted to the people closest to her she hosted many family Thanksgiving feasts at her Meriden, Connecticut home.

She cherished past friends from grade school, high school, college, and those from Meriden, CT, Venice, FL, Mattapoisett and many others having met throughout life's journey. If one were to describe Linda throughout her life they would find warmth, welcoming, selfless, and an effortless knack of your feeling important in her presence. Many came to know her default expression, a smile. A close friend once called her "Lovely" and the nickname lasted.

She and Bruce always shared in the same interests whether it be travel, reading, gardening, boating, music, golf and baseball. As a member of the Mattapoisett Women's Club her contributions included participation in the cook book "Doorways to Dining".

During her final months and, despite her multiple illnesses, she bravely continued to inspire through her unwavering disciplines and never-failing sense of humor.

Linda was predeceased by her daughter Joann (Klappholz) Totten.

Special remembrances for: William Klappholz, Daniel Uhl and Janet Justice.

Survivors include her husband Bruce; her son, Douglas Klappholz and his wife Catherine; her brother, Charles Krull and his wife Sharon; her son-in-law, Glenn Totten and his wife Francesca; her grandchildren, Jakub Klappholz, Chloe Klappholz, Mei Totten, Lia Totten, Harper Totten; her sisters-in-law, Ellen Uhl and Mary Dike-Klappholz; her niece, Kimberly Krull; her nephews, Ryan Krull, Michael Uhl, David Klappholz and Eric Klappholz; and many beloved cousins.
