Lloyd W. "Shorty" Parsons, 43, of New Bedford died Monday April 4, 2005 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.

Born in New Bedford, the son of Lloyd E. Parsons of Warwick, RI, and the late Jacqueline E. (Smith) Parsons, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Mr. Parsons was employed as a commerical fisherman on various vessels sailing out of the Port of New Bedford. He had previously worked aboard the M/V Schamonchi.

He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his father; three brothers, Craig Parsons of New Bedford, and James Parsons and his wife Theresa, and Jackie Ray Parsons, all of Tallahasse, Florida; a half-brother, Mark Parsons of Warwick; three half-sisters, Angel Previte of Bradenton, Florida, Teresa Bacon and Elizabeth Parsons, both of Warwick; a step-brother, Dennis Schipper of New Bedford; his maternal grandfather, William H. Smith of New Bedford; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was the brother of the late David Parsons and Dwayne Parsons.

A private family memorial service was held on Saturday in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
