M. Elizabeth (Gomes Madeira) Medina-Graca, 78, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She was the loving wife of Orlando Medina Da Graca for over 40 years.

Born in Sao Vicente, Cabo Verde, daughter of the late Manuel and Otelinda (Pinheiro) Madeira, she immigrated to the United States in 1976. Elizabeth first lived in Cleveland, Ohio before settling in New Bedford.

Elizabeth and Orlando shared a beautiful and strong marriage, raising their family together in New Bedford. She was always supportive of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, word searches, and crossword puzzles. Elizabeth was an active member at Christian Rachionalism and was well grounded in her faith.

Survivors include her husband; her children, George Almeida, and Maria Almeida and her partner Frank Young; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many close friends and family members still living in Sao Vicente.

She is predeceased by her brother, Eurico Monteiro.

Elizabeth's Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 25th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Her visiting hours will be Monday, June 24th from 5 to 8 PM.
