Madeline A. (Camaioni) Paiva

Saturday, January 4, 2025

Madeline A. (Camaioni) Paiva, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of her late husband, Louis Paiva, to whom she had been married for 70 years. Madeline is survived by her son, Kenneth and daughter-in-law, Kimberly, of Mansfield, MA, granddaughter, Kailey, of Plainville, MA, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Mrs. Patricia Camaioni and Mrs. Frances Gwozdz, her closest and dearest friends.

She was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Gorino Camaioni and Francesca (Giammolvo) Camaioni. Madeline was the sister of the late Rita (Camaioni) Feijo, Nina Camaioni and Gus Camaioni.

She was employed as a stitcher for a textile company, until she married, then became a full-time homemaker, focusing her time on her family. Madeline had a love of music and enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing piano and following her late husband's band, who played locally in the New Bedford area, as well as in locations such as Indian Head Resort, in Lincoln, New Hampshire.

Madeline spent her later years at the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield and then at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. She and her family extend their heartfelt thanks for the care and sense of community she was afforded in both locations. Additionally, her family wishes to thank Old Colony Hospice for their steadfast care during her final months.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 10, at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 121 Mount Pleasant Street, New Bedford, MA. Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects at Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home For Funerals at 495 Park Street, New Bedford, MA, on Friday, January 10th, starting at 8:30 AM and ending promptly at 9:30 AM.
