Madelyn A. (Fortin) St. Germain, 82, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of David G. St. Germain.
Born in New Bedford to the late Roger and Denise (Gobeil) Fortin, Madelyn lived her entire life in the city. She dedicated over 25 years of her career to Compass Bank before retiring. Madelyn cherished spending time with her family, traveling, relaxing on the beach, and reading.
Madelyn is survived by her loving husband, David; her two daughters, Michelle DuVal and her partner Vincent Medeiros of Dartmouth, and Christine Collins and her husband Mark of Fairhaven; three stepchildren, John St. Germain and his wife Jenn of Westford, MA, Sherrill St. Germain of Auburn, CA, and David St. Germain of New Bedford; her brother, Roger Fortin, and his wife Janice of New Bedford; her sister, Suzanne Fortin of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Brittni Collins, Dr. Jessica Collins, Hayden King, and Phoebe King; four step-grandchildren, Ashley Silva, Benjamin St. Germain, Sarah St. Germain, and Sophie St. Germain; a great-grandson, Mac Saraiva; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Nathan King, and her sister, Joanne Brown.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, May 17th, at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 16th, from 4-7 PM.
