Manuel A. Dias, Jr.

Manuel A. Dias, Jr., 82, of Weymouth, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Born in Freetown, MA, on December 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Silva) Dias and the youngest of eight children. Manny was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He was the brother of the late Joseph Dias, Alfred Dias, Anthony Dias, Mary Clark, Evelyn Lopes, Dorothy Dias, and Lillian Sellman.

Manny graduated from New Bedford High School and then attended Brown University for three years before joining the United States Air Force, where he served in Hospital Administration. He managed daily medical records, handled patient administration, and oversaw clerical workflows to support military hospital and clinic operations. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, for his entire Air Force career, where he worked at Wilford Hall Hospital.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Manny worked for the federal government. Later, he worked at IBM as a technical specialist for major manufacturing and distribution accounts, becoming the go-to person for some of the company’s largest customers. After retiring from IBM, he worked as a consultant.

He was a trailblazer in his family, being the first to attend college and to work for a Fortune 500 company.

Manny is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30–10:30 a.m., prior to the service.
