Manuel V. Pires, 90, of New Bedford died April 25, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Delores Caroline (Soares) Pires and Francisca Rodrigues.
Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, son of the late Pedro and Maria (Vieira) Pires, he lived in New Bedford since 1981.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Pires was formerly employed by Striderite until his retirement.
He enjoyed family events, playing cards, gardening, story telling, fishing and the ocean.
Survivors include his 4 children, Aida Pires, Antonio Pires and his wife Anna Pires, Jaime Pires and Iolanda Martins and her husband Domingos Martins; 11 grandchildren, Mane, Manu, Milena, Kelsey, Chris, Tchica, Emmitt, Emmilee, Jamaine, Jasmine and Darian; 4 great-grandchildren, Norie, Lennox, Demais and Berlin; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday May 1, 2025 at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10 AM.  Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
