Obituary

Margaret T. "Peggy" (Regan) Tighe, 78, of New Bedford died December 8, 2001at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Tighe,and daughter of the late Richard P. and Emilienne M. (Melanson) Regan.

A lifelong resident of New Bedford, she was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mrs. Tighe was formerly employed as a nurse's aide at Brandon Woods for 9 years. Many years ago, she had worked at the Acushnet Company manufacturing gas masks and inspecting golf balls.

Mrs. Tighe was a member of the Guard of Honor of Holy Name Church, the Holy Name Women's Guild and was a Den Mother for the Holy Name Cub Scouts. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Association and the Ward 3 Democratic Committee. She served in the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. during World War II.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Helen A. Flynn of Somerset and Marie E. Tighe of New Bedford; 2 sons, Thomas W. Tighe, Jr. of Vernon, CT and F. Patrick Tighe of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a brother, Richard P. Regan of Mattapoisett; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Helen A. Regan.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordWednesday, December 12th at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 3-8 PM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
