Margaret M. (Paliotto) Xifaras, 85, of Marion died Wednesday April 15, 2009 at Tobey Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Robert Xifaras.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Marco and Margaret (McGuire) Paliotto, she had lived in Marion for many years.

Mrs. Xifaras was formerly employed as an office worker for the Laborers Union Local 385 and Old Colony Trucking Company.

She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Abdelnour and his wife Jo-Anna of Marion, and Robert Xifaras and his companion Cindy Perry; four daughters, Cynthia Kinney, Valerie Leger, and Robin Xifaras, all of New Bedford, and Camille Dawn Xifaras of Assonet; her very special daughter-in-law, Ragnhild Adbelnour of Fairhaven; her son-in-law, William Hardsog of Wareham; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late James M. Abdelnour and Margaret "Missy" Hardsog.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Little Neck Cemetery, Marion.
