Maria Vieira

Maria C. Vieira, "Cidalia de Ines Darina" 84, of New Bedford died January 3, 2026 after a brief illness surrounded by her family.

Born in Brava, Cabo Verde, the daughter of the late Pedro Santos Vieira and Inez (Lopes) Vieira, she lived in New Bedford for the last 62 years.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Mrs. Vieira was formerly employed by Acushnet Company for 33 years until her retirement.

She was a member of the Bisca Tournament Club and Our Lady of the Assumption Club.

Survivors include her 4 children, Daniel Faria of New Bedford, Lorraine Faria of Acushnet, Gerald Resendes and his wife Tiana of New Bedford, and Angelina Fenton and her husband James Fenton, II of Fall River; 4 grandchildren, Denzel Resendes, Jaianne Castillo, Marlowe Tavares and Jeremiah Resendes, and several cousins and Godchildren.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, January 9th from 3-8 PM.
