Maria D. (Leao) Holden, 77, of New Bedford died August 17, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in Sao Vicente, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Joao Fortes and Maria Rosa Leao, she lived in New Bedford for the last 20 years.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Holden was formerly employed by Carol Cable.
Survivors include 3 sons, Jose Leao and his wife Lucia and Eduino Leao, all of New Bedford, and Jean Renaud of France; 4 daughters, Albertina Gomes and her husband Jean Pierre, and Josette Renaud, all of New Bedford, Danielle Renaud of Maryland, and Jacqueline Renaud and her companion Christian Acevedo of New Jersey; 2 sisters, Rosa Melicio of Cape Verde and Isaura Daluz of Portugal; 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Friday, August 20th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Visiting hours Thursday, August 19th from 4-8 PM.
