Maria Lopes, 83, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Figueral Brava, Cape Verde. Maria was a loving soul whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many, and her family was the center of her life.
Maria will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and the love she shared with those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and friends.
May she rest in eternal peace.
Survivors include her 6 children, Maria, Natalio, Domingas , Carlos, Auxilia , Rui, Ildavina Deolinda, Walter Pires and Carlota; 13 grandchildren, Melissa Pereira, Kayla DeBrito, Helder Pereira, Adilson DeBrito, Kassandra Vieira, Alexander Vieira, Elissa Vieira, Kaliyah Lopes, Fátima Da Silva, Zanayha Ferenandes, Aanyha Fernandes, Jaymanie Neves and Dominique Vieira; and 8 great grandchildren, Mia Santos, Messiah Pereira, Jamila Guerrier, Maeve Santos, Ky'eanu Vieira, Amir DeBrito, Elias Carmelo Owens and Azalea Vaz Vieira.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, October 16th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 47 S. 6th St. New Bedford at 10 AM. AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, October 15th from 4-8 PM.
