Maria J. Ramos

Maria J. (Goncalves) Ramos, 91, of New Bedford passed away Sunday May 24, 2026 after a long illness.

Born and raised in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Carminda Fontes and Jose S. Goncalves, she lived in New Bedford for the past 55 years.

Maria was a dedicated member of the International Church of the Nazarene for many years. She was a very friendly and social person, who was loved by all.

She is survived by her siblings, Adelina Soares, Jose Goncalves, and Jacqueline Goncalves; her niece whom she considered as a daughter, Analina Mendes and her husband Robert; and many other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Analina Mello, Salvador Goncalves, and Lucas Goncalves.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday May 30th at 10 AM at the International Church of the Nazarene, 284 Pleasant St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be held on Friday May 29th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
