Maria A. (Angelo) Valentim, 85, of New Bedford died January 11, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the widow of the late Joao A. Valentim.
Born in Corvo, Azores, the daughter of the late Jose C. and Concaecoa (Pedro) Angelo, she lived in New Bedford since 1968.
Mrs. Valentim was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
She enjoyed knitting and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Maria V. Lopes and her husband David of New Bedford; a sister, Rosa Machado of Corvo, Azores; a daughter-in-law, Inez Valentim of Acushnet; 4 grandchildren, Robert C. Valentim, Johnny C. Valentim, Jason D. Lopes, and Debra M. Oliver; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jonathan Valentim, Faith and David Oliver; several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late John M. Valentim.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Wednesday, January 14th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, January 13th from 4-8 PM.
