Maria Fatima Vieira, 71, of New Bedford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of Pedro Nolasco.

Born in São Lorenço, Cabo Verde, she was the daughter of the late Cezar Vieira and Palmira (Pires) Vieira, she moved to New Bedford in 2006.

Maria enjoyed cooking and caring for others. She loved dancing to Cape Verdean music.

Survivors include her husband, Pedro; her children, Manecas Teixeira, Fastino Vieira, Dina Miranda, Patricia Fortes, and Malick Lopes; her siblings, Eugenia Duarte, Vital Vieira, Joao Vieira, Renato Vieira, Olivio Viera, Jose Vieira, and Maria Vieira; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

She is predeceased by her siblings, Dulce, Lorenca, and Daniel Vieira.

Maria's Funeral will be held from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 8 AM followed by her Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM and burial in Rural Cemetery. Her visiting hours will be held Friday, May 31st from 4-8 PM.
