Marie P. (O'Neill) Dupuis, 68, of Carver died Friday February 13, 2009 at Jordan Hospital.

Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Harry T. and Veronica J. (McGrath) O'Neill, she lived in Dartmouth and Fairhaven for many years before moving to Carver three years ago.

Marie began her career as the art director for the Freetown-Lakeville School District. She later worked for the Dartmouth and New Bedford School Departments, and retired from the Sippican School in Marion as a special needs assistant.

Marie was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels at the Carver Council on Aging, a SHINE Counselor for the elderly, secretary for the Carver Committee on Disability, and an educational surrogate parent for the Department of Social Services. She was a person who always put others before herself. She made many friends whom she cared for deeply.

She was a graduate of Regis College.

Survivors include her companion of 22 years, Gordon Vieira; two children, Lynne Ormonde of Dartmouth and Scott T. Dupuis of Fairhaven; a brother, David M. O'Neill of Dartmouth; a granddaughter, Ashley Dupuis; and nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
