Obituary

Marin Celia Stackpole, age 17, of Fairhaven, was taken from us far too soon on July 5th, 2025. She was the best of all of us. A caring, loving daughter, a devoted sister, and a fierce, supportive friend.

If you were in Marin's life, you could count yourself lucky that her smile lit up your world.

She will be remembered with so much love by her family and friends, especially by her parents Evan and Penni, her brother Ian, her grandmothers Rheannen Williams of Fairhaven and Bernadine Dupuis of Traverse City, Michigan, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins near and far.

Marin was a proud student at Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School, in the Legal and Protective Services shop. Heading into her Senior year, she was looking forward to volleyball, spending time with friends, looking for colleges, and soaking up all the experiences that make up this pivotal year in a young person's life.

Marin was devoted to music and appreciated every kind of artist. She had her favorites, but her many Spotify playlists were eclectic and always included someone new she had just discovered. She was continuously on the hunt for the next concert to add to her ever-growing list of artists she needed to see live. Concerts weren't just on her wish list, she was passionate about getting to see her favorites live.

Marin was incredibly creative and artistic. She was an epic napper and an intentional hugger. The best driving partner, with incredible music and a sure-fire plan for a coffee stop and snacks. She loved the Boston Red Sox. She looked forward to the start of the season and the game day she would plan each year for her and her dad to spend together at Fenway Park. She loved the ocean but had a lifetime argument with seaweed. She was a true blue, Great Lakes Michigan girl in her heart. She had an incredible laugh and made everyone in her orbit feel welcome and accepted.

Her fierce loyalty to friends was evident her entire life. She held true to those who lifted her up and stood by her when she needed them.

She had her own, immovable style and space in this world and never compromised it for anyone. Marin chose her own path everyday of her life, showing us and reminding us that her deliberate choices didn't make her different, simply brave enough to trust that there is more than one path.

She was a sweet, stubborn, funny, independent teenager who had a lifetime of adventure ahead of her. She is missed beyond words.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 31st at 10 am at the Unitarian Church,102 Green Street, Fairhaven, MA.  The family would love to see a room full of color while we celebrate our girl. She was a bright, beautiful light so choose something to wear that makes you happy.

Marin spent time with a wonderful nonprofit called Gnome Surf last Fall, (please click on "Gnome Surf" to donate or mail a check to Gnome Surf, 1510 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720). In lieu of flowers, her family asks for donations to this incredible organization.
