Mario Diniz Junior

Mario Diniz Junior, 67, of New Bedford, died Monday, September 21, 2026, at home after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Celsa (DePina) Diniz.

Born in Nossa Senhora da Conceicao, Fogo, Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Mario Diniz and Joaquina Souto Amado. He lived in Cape Verde for most of his life before immigrating to the United States.

He was a hard worker all of his life and most recently was employed by Direcção do Porto Vale Cavaleiros.

Mario was a man of faith who believed in God and was well respected by all who knew him for his caring and kind nature. He enjoyed watching futebol and was a fan of F.C. Porto. Mario was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who worked hard to provide for the family he dearly loved.

He is survived by his wife, Celsa, and his children, Carlos, Anita, Ilka, and Maura Diniz. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren, his stepchildren, his Godchild, Jayla Dias, and numerous other family members and friends.

His funeral service will be held Friday, September 25, 2026 at 11am in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, September 24th from 5-8pm. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
