Marion L. (Lynch) Pettiford, 56, of New Bedford died Friday May 5, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Barbara Lee (Offley) Dennis of Asuza, CA and the late Dudley A. Lynch, she lived in Jersey City, NJ, Washington, D.C., and Houston before moving to New Bedford 6 months ago.
She was formerly employed as a licensed practical nurse at many nursing homes in the Washington Metro area and Houston for many years.
Marion was an avid reader, pastry chef and enjoyed interior decorating.
Survivors include her mother; her step-mother, Dorothy (Wright) Lynch of New Bedford; a daughter, Elyse Pettiford of Silver Spring, MD; a brother, Stephen Dennis of Los Angeles; 8 sisters, Virginia Hughes and Ayobumi Makanh, both of Houston, Jeanette Lynch of New Bedford, Patricia Price of Worcester, Elouise Rocha of Chihuahua, Mexico, Donna Marie Dennis and Jonelle Dennis, both of Northampton, and Yvonne Dennis of Los Angeles; 2 grandsons, Stephen and Deonte Pettiford; 2 aunts, Marilyn Rosa of New Bedford and Doris Lynch Brown of Howell, NJ.; many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Kimberly Joyce Pettiford.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 13th at 4 PM in the First Unitarian Church, 71 Eighth St., New Bedford.
