Mary A. (Gomes) Galvao, 59, of New Bedford died July 24, 2002 at home after a long illness.

She was the wife of the late Herman O. Galvao,and daughter of Elsie (Amado) Gomes of Fairhaven and the late John M. Gomes.

Mrs. Galvao was born in Fairhaven and lived in New Bedford most of her life.

She was an avid collector of ceramic frogs.

Survivors include a son, Darrin Galvao of Wareham; 4 daughters, Michelle Barboza, Pamela Lobo, Ursula Floyd and Pepita Berrios, all of New Bedford; 2 brothers, John Gomes and Albert Gomes, both of New Bedford; a sister, Ida Almeida of New Bedford; 8 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was the grandmother of the late Dion W. Floyd, Jr and sister of the late Rudolph Gomes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven, Saturday, July 27th at 9 AM, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
