Obituary

Mary (Alfonso) Lafferty, 95, of New Bedford died March 7, 2004 at Taber Street Nursing Home unexpectedly. She was the wife of the late James W. Lafferty

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Bernardino and Mary (DaSilva) Alfonso, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth.

Mrs. Lafferty was formerly employed by Cherry & Webb as a salesperson.

She was a member of the Greater Dartmouth Senior Citizens and the Portuguese American Civic League. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, James W. Lafferty, Jr., and his wife Clarisse, of New Bedford; a daughter, Shirley Kozik, and her husband Benon, of North Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren, James Kozik, Marcia Kozik Douglas, Benon Kozik and Lori Lafferty; 5 great-grandchildren, Janna Kozik, Jeffrey Kozik, Samantha Kozik, Stephen Ryan and Max Douglas.

She was the sister of the late Eugene Alfonso, Delia Sylvia and Marion Botelho.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass in St. Mary's Church, Dartmouth, Friday, March 12th at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
