Mary Alvas Lobo, 88, of New Bedford died Friday November 13, 2009 at Our Lady's Haven. She was the wife of the late Antone Lobo.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Oliveira and Joaquina (Fernandes) Andrade, she lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years and later in Nantucket before returning to New Bedford several years ago.

Mrs. Lobo was formerly employed as a postal worker at the U.S. Postal Service Central Office in New York City until her retirement.

She touched the lives of all who met her. She was loved by all.

Survivors include a son, Raymond "Butchie" Alvas of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Evelyn Reis, Julio Andrade, and Eleanor O'Connell.
