Matthew S. Caravana

Matthew Stephen Caravana, 44, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026, at his home in Wareham, MA.

Matt was born on August 15, 1981 in Wareham to Caristina L. Seed and Stephen F. Caravana. He grew up in Dartmouth and was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, Class of 1999. Matt went on to earn a bachelor's degree in human resource management from UMASS Dartmouth & a master's degree in higher education administration from Columbia University. Since 2007, he has been working and excelling in his career in medical IT services and consultation, most recently at HTC Global Services.

Growing up, Matt was well known for his incredible skills on the basketball court. He had an enviable collection of trophies that spoke to his talent, once earning MVP for scoring the winning shot during a championship game he played on a broken knee. That passion for the sport went hand-in-hand with his long-time hobby of basketball card and sports memorabilia collecting, another community where he was beloved. Anyone who knew Matt is well aware of how much he loved telling jokes and making people laugh with his goofy sense of humor. He also enjoyed spending his free time driving down backroads, listening to his favorite music, and being close to the ocean. But more than anything, Matt loved spending time his 11-year-old son Gavin watching basketball games, movies, and laughing together.

In addition to his parents and son, he is survived by his partner of 20 years, friend, and Gavin's mother, Erin Caravana and her parents, Eva and Kevin Donegan; step-father, Edward Seed and step-mother, Kimberly Caravana; two sisters, Lauren Lamontagne and her husband Philip Dwane, and Rebecca Holmes and her husband Jeremy; two brothers, Stephen Jr and Sean Caravana; grandmother, Mary Frances Caravana; & nephew, Landon Lamontagne.

Matthew's loss is also mourned by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will dearly miss him, his sense of humor, and his laughter.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
