Michael H. Kasap, 51, of New Bedford died June 30, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.

He was the son of Celia F. (Gontkiewicz) Kasap of New Bedford and the late Andre P. Kasap.

Mr. Kasap was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford most of his life and had lived in Alaska for 10 years.

He was a former member of Grace Episcopal Church.

Mr. Kasap was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman on several vessels in New Bedford and Alaska.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed sportfishing.

Survivors include his mother; 2 brothers, Frederick A. Kasap, and his wife Charlotte, of North Dartmouth and John David Kasap, and his wife Linda, of South Dartmouth; 3 nephews; 2 nieces; and 4 great-nieces and great-nephews.

His Funeral Services are private.
