Michael T. Rhodes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael T. Rhodes (aka: Mike Casey) a devoted husband, proud father, cherished "Bubba," veteran, businessman, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy built on love, hard work, humor, and unwavering determination. He passed away at his home on Monday February 23, 2026.

Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, carrying the values of discipline, loyalty, and service with him throughout his life. After his time in the military, he went on to build and operate his own glass business, Casey's Glass in New Bedford, for over 45 years. Through dedication and grit, he established not just a successful business, but a reputation for integrity and craftsmanship. Working side by side with his son, he passed down not only the skills of the trade, but the pride of his son becoming a union glazier - teaching him everything he knew and ensuring his legacy would live on in both profession and principle.

For 49 beautiful years, he was married to the love of his life, Kathie. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, partnership, and enduring love. Together they built a life centered around family, laughter, and shared adventures. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. Being "Bubba" was a title he wore with pride. Whether it was showing up to his grandson's baseball games or dance recitals for his granddaughter, telling jokes, sharing stories, or sneaking in special hot dog lunch dates, he made each grandchild feel deeply loved. Those simple traditions will forever hold extraordinary meaning.

He was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School in Dartmouth. Mike was an avid golfer and member for many years at the Country Club of New Bedford. He loved the peace of the course as much as the competition. He and Kathie embraced life through adventures big and small, traveling and creating memories wherever they went.

He was, without question, a stubborn man - determined, strong-willed, and clear about what he wanted. But that same stubbornness fueled his success, protected his family, and carried him through life's challenges. He didn't quit. Ever. And even in difficult times, he always managed to offer a joke or a witty comment to lighten the moment.

He will be remembered for his strength, his work ethic, his humor, his devotion to family, and the steady presence he was in the lives of those who loved him. His legacy lives on in the hands he trained, the family he built, and the laughter he sparked. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Mike is survived by his wife Kathleen (Selley) Rhodes, his son Nicholas and daughter-in-law Dana Rhodes, as well as his grandchildren Cole and Neely of Fairhaven. He is also survived by his brothers, Shawn Rhodes and Patrick Rhodes in California, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Helen (Hughes) Ciacci and stepfather Armeto J. Ciacci, his father William Rhodes and stepmother Rita (Froh) Rhodes, as well as his brothers Peter Ciacci and Randolph Rhodes.
