Milton E. "Babe" Bessette, 95, of New Bedford passed away Monday July 21, 2025 after a period of declining health.  He was the husband of Janice A. (Mitchell) Bessette.

Born in Fairhaven, he was the son of the late Emilien A. and Rose (Sylvia) Bessette.  He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.

Babe was formerly employed as a sales representative for NIAC Food Service.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

An avid golfer, he was a former member of the Country Club of New Bedford, the Reservation Golf Club, and Whaling City Golf Course.  He also enjoyed bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; his son Brett D. Labonte and his wife Mary; three grandchildren, Brett Labonte, Michael Labonte, and Grayson Silva; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Kaysen Labonte.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Beverlyn Silva, and his siblings, Beverlyn Ares and Ralph A. Bessette.

A private family memorial will be held.  Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
