Owen Ronald Costa, 20, of Fairhaven, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, June 16, 2025 after a life long battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Born in Fall River, son of Kevin Costa and Jaunna (Reedy) Fresina, he lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven all of his life.

Owen was an avid gamer and car enthusiast. He loved Ferrari and visiting the Audrain Car Museum. Owen was a Honorary District Fire Chief in New Bedford as well as being a Honorary Police Officer in many local Police Departments. He enjoyed playing Xbox, being a Youtuber, and spending time with his dogs George and Gerry. Owen was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School class of 2023.

Owen's family would like to thank his caregivers for the continued care and support they provided him in his illness, especially his aunt Joanne Reedy, Liam Conner, Nicole Silvia, HopeHealth Hospice and the Mass General PICU staff.

Survivors include his father, Kevin Costa and his partner Stephanie of Florida; his mother, Jaunna Fresina and her husband Steven of Fairhaven; his sister, Sarah Adesso of Fairhaven; his grandparents, Ronald and Joanne Costa, Glenn and Dale Enos, and Jeanne Reedy; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is predeceased by his grandfather, Joseph Reedy.

Owen's wake will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 3-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals. Parking is only permitted in the Funeral Home parking lot. If the Funeral Home parking lot is full please return later in the evening to enter the wake.
