Paul Fermino

Paul Fermino, 77, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Born in Acushnet, son of the late Peter Femrino and Madeline (Ramos) Jacob, he was raised in Freetown before living most of his life in New Bedford.

Paul served 4 years in the navy and was a Vietnam veteran, and also served 21 years as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserves. During his military career, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He worked at Ocean Spray for more than 15 years and then for Harvey Windows and took an early retirement for medical reasons.

He loved to play pool and was in a pool league and participated in pool tournaments. He loved R&B music and watching singing competitions on TV. Paul loved doing puzzles and was a whiz at Sudoku, challenging himself by increasing the difficulty level. He loved making puzzles and often framed them and hung them in his house. He never missed an episode of the Price is Right and was teased for watching The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful for over 25 years. Paul was kind hearted and helpful to his friends and family. There was nothing that he could not repair and was very meticulous in his work. He would not quit until he completed the job no matter how tedious or time consuming it was. He liked to joke around and told corny jokes. He will be missed. Rest with the Angels.

The family would like to thank St. Anne's Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. In addition, we would like to thank the staff, nurses, social worker and chaplain at Beacon Hospice for their caring daily visits.

Survivors include his siblings, Julie David and her husband Nick of LaMirada, CA, Anna Tate and her husband Nat of Desoto, TX, and Branda Pires of New Bedford; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2026 at 10 AM in New Life Pentacostal Church, 789 Main St., Acushnet. All are invited to meet directly at Church. His visiting hours will be Monday from 5-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
