On Saturday morning, September 7, 2024, Paul A. Gordon, at the age of 92, took his last breath at Hathaway Manor. He was the son of the late Henry and Bertha Gordon. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy (Potkay) Gordon, a daughter Lauri Burke, her three children Tyler, Sydney and Cameron Burke, a son, Michael Landry, his daughter Abigail Gagnon and her husband Kurtis, and great-grandson Morgan Paul Gagnon.
He was predeceased by his son Mark Gordon and his beloved brother Henry "Skip" Gordon. Paul also leaves his grandchildren Corey Gordon, Amanda Lilley, Sarah Lopes, David Gordon, and Justine Gordon, and two sons, Paul and Peter Gordon.
Paul worked at Morse Cutting Tools, the Town of Fairhaven as the veterans' agent, then the Massachusetts Amercian Legion, as well as National American Legion as the service officer in the Providence office. There wasn't a veteran or a widow he didn't consider a special client. Both Paul and Nancy Gordon have been the proprietors of Paul's Sports Corner in Fairhaven for 47 years.
He loved his New England sports, especially the Celtics, and on occasion the Giants.
Paul watched the old movies time and time again and each scratch ticket he bought was going to be the big one.
He was always so proud to be a Marine. Semper Fi. Paul belonged to the Marine Corps League, the 40 +8 League, the Acushnet American Legion, and was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6643.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday September 14th at 9 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be on Friday September 13th from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
