Paul G. Rosonina

Paul G. Rosonina, 65, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on Sunday August 30, 2026.

Born in Ribeira Quente, São Miguel, Açores, Portugal, Paul was the beloved son of the late Maria and Joao Rosonina. He lived in Dartmouth most of his life and spent more than 45 years working on the waterfront as a captain in the commercial fishing industry, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, determination, and love of the sea.

Above all else, Paul was a devoted family man. He shared an extraordinary love story with his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Christina, whom he adored. Together, they built a beautiful family.

Paul had an outgoing personality and a way of making people feel welcome wherever he went. He was always ready for a good time, a new adventure, or a chance to make someone laugh. He loved cooking, spending time with his family, and, most of all, being surrounded by the people he loved. If someone needed a helping hand, Paul was there without hesitation. He gave generously of his time, his heart, and himself.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Christina; his children, Jordan Rosonina and his wife, Tessa, Ciara Leclerc and her husband, Jacob, and Zachary Rosonina; his grandchildren, Julian, Jack, and Jude Rosonina, and Jacob and Layne Leclerc; and his siblings, Donald Rosonina and his wife, Susan, Lucy Medeiros and her husband, Louie, Maria Santos and her husband, Jose, Nelson Rosonina and his partner, Brian Costa, Isabel Cardoso and her husband, Carlos, and Zelia Sarmento and her husband, Paul. He also leaves behind his Godson, Shane Rosonina and several nieces and nephews. Paul is also survived by his mother-in-law, Maria Rebelo; his sister-in-law, Maria Carreiro and her husband, George; and his godchild, Lucas.

Paul will be remembered for his enormous heart, his infectious personality, his willingness to help anyone, and the unconditional love he had for his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of love that will continue through his children, grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday September 8th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday September 7th from 4-8 PM.
